The CW series Superman and Lois is set to end with the 10-episode fourth season. The series is the protagonist Tyler Hoechlin AND Elizabeth Tulloch like the title characters, as well as Michael Bishop AND Alex Garfin. The series was seriously affected by strikes and budget cuts which led to the show’s roster being downsized from eight to six for the final season. The show is one of the most expensive for the network, due to its special effects budget, and this latest season felt the tightening of the purse strings in a major way.
Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW Network, released a statement on the series, saying:
“Over the past three seasons, Superman & Lois has redefined both the superhero genre and the family drama as Tyler, Elizabeth, and the entire cast have effortlessly portrayed these classic characters with new levels of depth and complexity that have never been explored before in the Superman universe. We are grateful for the years of hard work and graceful storytelling from the show’s writers, producers, actors and crew, as well as our amazing partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions. As Superman embarks on his final flight, the team leaves us with an absolutely epic, binge-watch, 10-episode farewell to one of the most legendary CW families ever.”
Executive producers and co-showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher added:
“While we are sad to say goodbye to Superman & Lois at the end of season four, we are grateful for the time we had with our amazing cast, crew, VFX team, editors, musical geniuses and writers. From the day this show was first talked about, it’s been about family. And that’s what was created, on and off screen. We would like to thank our partners at Berlanti Productions, DC, WB and The CW for their endless support and enthusiasm throughout this journey… and a very special thank you to all the fans for tuning in. We’re excited about what we’re doing. We have in store in our final season, and I can’t wait for everyone to watch Superman, Lois, and all of our heroes face the greatest threat in the show’s history: Lex Luthor.”
The final season of Superman and Lois will air on The CW in 2024.
