Marvel fans are very curious as to what Marvel Studios will do with Kang The Conqueror with all the legal issues involving Jonathan Majors. Well, thanks to a new report from Variety, Marvel has reportedly discussed the matter and has considered dropping Kang as a primary focus in the MCU. One thing they actually talked about is maybe replacing Kang with Doctor Doom.
The report says: “A studio source notes that regardless of the actor’s legal troubles, Marvel had already been considering abandoning a major-label-led phase due to Quantumania’s box office performance, which it will struggle to make a profit. It’s made people think since ‘Quantumania’ hasn’t exactly arrived,” the source says.”
The funny thing is, fans thought Kang was one of the best parts of the movie! Marvel Studios executives are said to be meeting in Palm Springs in September 2023 for the company’s annual retreat. While there, they discussed how to handle Kang the Conqueror, who was supposed to be the big bad who would lead to everything Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Since the character’s future is now in doubt, executives have spoken out about the matter Fantastic Four Doctor Doom as the new main villain to focus on. But nothing is 100% definitive.
A source said: “Marvel is really screwed by Kang’s whole perspective, and they didn’t have the opportunity to rewrite him until recently.” [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path on how to move forward with him.
What do you think Marvel should do with Kang? What do you think about the possibility of seeing him replaced by Doctor Doom?
If that were to happen, it will be interesting to see how that story develops.
