Retro trailer for the 1988 mutant cockroach horror film THE NEST

This week’s retro trailer is for the 1988 horror film The nestwhich tells the story of carnivorous zombie-like mutant cockroaches terrorizing a peaceful New England fishing village.

The film was directed by Terence H. Winkless and the story is set in the quiet island town of North Port. The film revolves around a series of gruesome deaths and inexplicable events that scare the community. The local sheriff, Richard Tarbell, begins investigating the mystery and soon discovers that the culprit behind the attacks is a breed of genetically modified flesh-eating cockroaches.

These creatures were accidentally released from a laboratory owned by the INTEC corporation, which conducted secret experiments. As the mutated cockroaches multiply and spread, they threaten to overrun the entire city. In collaboration with the town doctor, Sheriff Tarbell must devise a plan to exterminate these deadly parasites before they wipe out the entire population.

As the crisis worsens, it becomes clear that these are no ordinary cockroaches. They have the ability to take on the characteristics of the creatures they consume, leading to even more terrifying mutations. With time running out, the city’s inhabitants must face both terrifying creatures and the dark intentions of the INTEC corporation, which is more interested in hiding its role in the catastrophe than helping to stop it.

The battle for survival culminates in a suspenseful clash between man and mutant in a desperate attempt to save the city from complete annihilation. Enjoy the trailer!
