It seems like fans had a blast with Marvel’s recent release Spider-Man 2! When the creative team set out to make this game, one of the things they wanted to make was “one of the best Venom stories you’ll ever experience.” Now, I haven’t played the entire game yet, but so far I’ve loved the story the game tells! It is also explained that this could give rise to a spin-off!
In an interview with Insider, Spider-Man 2the senior narrative director, Jon Paquettehe spoke about his hopes for the sequel, explaining, “I want this to be one of the best Venom stories you’ve ever seen.”
There are many great Venom stories developed in the comics, but the Venom movies… no. The film’s Venom stories are incredibly weak compared to what came before them.
Insomniac already has a lot of competition, since the character was first introduced The Extraordinary Spider-Man comics in the 80s. Since then, we’ve seen the symbiote in several places, including movies and cartoon series.
Paquette also hinted at the possibility of another Spider-Man spinoff saying, “So, here’s what we’re doing, we’re focused on Spider-Man 2, and what we’ll do is wait to see how the fans react. We’re going to listen to the fans and ask ourselves, ‘Okay, what do the fans really want?’
Paquette then adds, “We’ll talk about these things after we’ve had time to sleep and take vacation.” So basically, if fans love what they did with Venom’s story in this game, we’ll most likely get the Venom spin-off, which would be awesome!
In Spider-Man 2Venom is voiced by a horror actor Tony Todd (Candyman), and he’s fantastic as Venom!
