After an out-of-competition buyers screening at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, Lionsgate has acquired the rights to the horror thriller film The Househero Pete Davidson. The film is directed by Giacomo De Monaco (The purge), from a screenplay he collaborated on Adam Singer.
The House follows Davidson as Max, a former foster child who begins working at a retirement home, only to discover that its residents and caretakers are hiding sinister secrets.
Charlotte Koh, executive vice president of acquisitions and co-productions at Lionsgate, said of the film: “We went into ‘The Home’ not knowing what to expect and James and Pete have given us a hilarious film that is pure suspenseful fun and just plain crazy The public won’t know what hit him.”
Thom Zadra, executive vice president of Miramax, added: “James and Pete have created an instant horror classic and we are thrilled to have found the perfect partner in Lionsgate to bring the film to U.S. audiences.”
Davidson returns to Saturday night live this weekend to host the show’s first episode since the end of the WGA strike. Recently you acted in Sony Stupid moneya stranger-than-fiction comedy about the GameStop stock frenzy from January 2021.
The House will be released in theaters in 2024.
