THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER Blu-ray comes with deleted scenes and an alternate opening

Universal Pictures’ The last voyage of the Demeter is coming soon to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on October 17th and will be packed with goodies in its special features. I liked this film, it was a lot of fun and I liked the fact that it felt like an old Hammer horror film.

If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a horror film worth checking out! The Blu-ray release will include over 30 minutes of bonus content including an alternate opening, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes showing the making of the film. As someone who enjoyed the movie, I can’t wait to watch all this stuff!

The film was directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark). The story of the film focuses on one chapter of Bram Stokeris a classic horror novel, it is a unique story that follows the journey of Dracula as he terrorizes the high seas. Additionally, the creature effects were done practically and the work they did was very impressive.

It is “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner Demeter, chartered to carry private cargo – twenty-four unmarked wooden crates – from the Carpathians to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, haunted every night by a terrifying presence aboard the ship. When she finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, she was a wreck. No trace of the crew.”
