Warner Bros. has released a second full trailer for its upcoming film Wonkawhich, as you know, tells the story of Willy Wonka’s origins and is a prequel to it Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The trailer offers more footage than Timothée Chalamet playing the quirky character alongside Hugh GrantIt’s Oompa Loompa. The trailer gives us a better idea of the story and what we can expect from the film, and I don’t expect much yet. They are trying to capture the energy of Gene Wilder and the original film, but it feels forced.
The film is based on “the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald DahlThe most iconic Wonka children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, Wonka tells the wonderful story of how the world’s greatest inventor, wizard and chocolate maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today .
The film comes from the writer and director Paolo Re (Paddington) and is described as a “heady mix of magic and music, chaos and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humor.” This irresistibly vivid and creative big-screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, bursting with ideas and determined to change the world one delicious morsel at a time, proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you have lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.”
The film is also the protagonist Calah Lane (The day will come), Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon), Paterson Joseph (Vigil), Matt Lucas (Paddington), Matthew Baynton (The wrong men), Sally Hawkins (The shape of water), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Olivia Colman (The favorite), Natasha Rothwell (white lotus), Rich Fulcher (Marriage history), Rakhee Thakrar (Four weddings and a funeral), Tom Davis (Paddington2) AND Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Paddington2).
The film is produced by David Heymann (Harry Potter), Alexandra Derbyshire (Paddington, Jurassic World: Domination) AND Luke Kelly (The Witches by Roald Dahl).
Wonka will be released in theaters on December 15th.
