Director George Miller was deeply involved in the post-production of Mad Max: Road Fury prequel film Furious, and is trying to stage its big premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. It debuted Way of Fury there along with his 2022 film Three thousand years of desire. So, it seems like it would make sense Furious to be premiered there as well.
According to Variety, “the tentative plan is for Warner Bros. to have a world premiere Furious in Cannes just like it happened Way of Fury nine years ago. The study said any suggestions regarding this Furious would be released in Cannes was purely a rumor. Any plans to premiere the film depend on the actors’ schedules for doing promotion, and those talks can’t happen until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved.
The head of the film festival Thierry Fremaux she told the outlet, “We have retained an amazing memory of the world premiere of Way of Fury in Cannes. It would be wonderful to welcome them back Furiousespecially because George Miller was a wonderful jury president in 2016. I know he is working on the film and I hope it will be in Cannes.
Movie stars Anya Taylor-Gioiawho plays Emperor Furiosaand, and Chris Hemsworthwho takes on the role of the evil warlord Dementus.
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large horde of bikers led by Warlord Dementus. Traveling through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe As the two Tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she marshals the means to find her way home.
Hemsworth looked unrecognizable on set as he sported long hair, a prosthetic nose and a beard. The rest of the cast includes Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy HulmeAND Quaden Bayles.
The fans are incredibly excited Furiousand is scheduled for release on May 24, 2024.
