Netflix has ordered a second season of Castlevania: Nocturne, and they posted a video for the announcement! The news comes just eight days after the first season premiered on the streaming service.
I’m watching the series right now, and it’s freaking awesome! I love what they’re doing with this show and the story they’re telling. The creative team is doing great things with this franchise!
Showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde said in a statement: “Thank you to all Castlevania fans new and old for the overwhelming response and support! We’re excited to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”
During the first five days of its release, the anime series entered the top 10 of Netflix’s English TV charts. Studios Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will return to produce the second season Sam Deats AND Adam Deats also returning to directing.
In the series, “The gothic and gory adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and the highest stakes ever. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution from the fan-favorite Netflix series Castlevania. It features a never-before-seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon and one of the franchise’s most beloved characters).”
The series is set hundreds of years after the events of the first series and follows the character of Richter, “a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.”
Richter is a descendant of vampire slayer Trevor Belmont and wizard Sypha Belnades. The story is set in 1792 and will chronicle his vampire hunting adventures during the French Revolution. Richter will be joined by Maria Renard, another familiar character from the games. She is a powerful magic user with her distant connection to Belmont’s legacy. She appeared alongside Richter as a young girl in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.
Nocturne stars the voices of Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, Pixie Davies in the role of Maria Renard, So Mbedu in the role of Annette, Nastassja Kinski in the role of Tera Renard, Sydney James Harcourt like Edouard, Riccardo Dormer like Abbot Emanuele, Aaron Neil like Mizrak, Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory/Sekhmet, Elarica Johnson in the role of Drolta Tzuentes, Sophie Skelton like Julia Belmont, and Ian Glen in the role of Juste Belmont. Furthermore, Giacomo Callis reprises his role as Alucard from the previous Castlevania series.
