I don’t know about you, but I was wondering if we would ever see each other Tom Hiddleston’S Loki reunite with Chris HemsworthIt’s Thor. They both had their own wild adventures, but according to the executive producer Kevin Wrightone of the goals of the second season was to set up an eventual reunion between the god of mischief and his half-brother Thor.
During an interview with Variety, Wright was asked if Loki will ever return to the larger MCU and he responded:
“That’s the hope. I don’t want to… yeah. I think the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again was always the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to be truly fulfilling, we need to bring Loki to a certain point emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.”
Loki and Thor haven’t shared the screen together since 2018’s opening sequence Avengers: Infinity War, when Thanos killed Loki in front of Thor. It should be interesting to see these two characters reunite since they’ve changed so much! There would be a whole new dynamic between them, one we’ve already seen, and I can’t wait for Thor to show Loki his “Loki RIP” tattoo!
Wright that the six-episode second season will end in an “open-ended” fashion and teases that there could be a third season:
“We certainly didn’t develop this season saying, ‘We have to do this.’ [set up] season 3′ – the same way we did with season 1, where there was a very specific, ‘Hey, we’re coming back.’ But I also think that where this show goes, there can certainly be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in Loki’s world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.”
In Season 2, the God of Mischief finds himself with a bit of a “time slippage” problem. The series is also the protagonist Owen Wilsonwho returns as Mobius, and will continue to help Loki as they try to figure out what’s going on and this leads them to Jonathan Majors like the Kang Victor Timely variant.
The rest of the cast includes Sofia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugenio Cordero, Raffaele Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, Ke Huy QuanAND Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, of which we see a variant in the trailer.
The series was directed by Justin Benson AND Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw AND Kasra Farahani. The head writer of the show is Eric Martin and is produced by Kevin Feige, Stefano Broussard, Luigi D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. WrightHiddleston, Benson, Moorhead, Martin, e Michele Waldron.
Loki Season 2 will begin streaming on Disney+ on Thursday, October 5 at 6pm PT (9pm ET).
