Paris Fashion Week highlights: Paris Hilton on the Mugler catwalk, Demna Gvasalia’s mother at Balenciaga and Sarah Burton’s final show for Alexander McQueen

Fashion month is officially over. We’ve already talked about Fashion Week’s brightest moments in Milan and New York, and we’ve also rounded up the craziest things from the London shows. Now it’s time to take a closer look at the fashion shows of Paris Fashion Week participants.

Demna Gvasalia’s mother is on the podium

Demna Gvasalia’s mother Ella

Demna Gvasalia really knows how to surprise. And we are not only talking about the location and concept of the fashion show, but also the models participating in the fashion show. For example, last year Nicole Kidman, Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian and Renata Litvinova appeared on the Balenciaga catwalk. This time Demna decided not to lower the bar and invited his own mother to join the show. So Ella had the honor of opening the show. Russian football player and model Nadya Karpova also took part in the podium.

Shining Secret Dresses

The name of the most spectacular finale of the series definitely goes to Undercover. The main lights in the entire hall were turned off to show the last three photographs. After that, a model literally “swam” down the catwalk in a voluminous terrarium dress with fresh flowers and butterflies inside (by the way, they were released into the wild after the show). The magical effect was 100% guaranteed. We invite you to be amazed again.

Broken floor at the Courrèges show

Models had to walk on mud, water, sand, grass, rocks and every possible surface. However, the Courrèges brand managed to surprise even the most experienced girls. Especially for the show, the floor was filled with plaster, which broke off with each step the model took.

Moving walls at the Coperni show

They say magic is forbidden outside Hogwarts. But the Coperni team decided to break all the rules. Therefore, the main feature of the show’s set design was the movable walls. And this decision reflects the concept of the show. Let’s try to understand. The new Coperni collection is an ode to sound; the show was held at IRCAM, the Paris Institute for Research and Coordination of Acoustics and Music, and some models walked the catwalk wearing headphones and carrying a Swipe bag (which turns into a CD player). . By the way, the walls were not like that, they were moving in rhythm with the music. Wonderful? Definitely.

Sarah Burton’s new collection for Alexander McQueen

This season, not only Gabriela Hearst but also Sarah Burton is leaving a major fashion house. The latter has been creative director of Alexander McQueen since 2010. He joined the brand’s team as McQueen’s personal assistant in 1997, and became the head designer of the women’s clothing line in 2000. By the way, many believe that it is thanks to him that the brand became commercially successful.

Sarah Burton at the Alexander McQueen show

However, at the beginning of September, it was learned that the 2024 spring-summer collection will be Sarah Burton’s last collection. That’s why we looked back at 45 catwalk looks with sadness. But the most touching moment of the show was the designer’s greeting. No one (not even the author of this material) could hold back tears.

Schiaparelli dress with fake nails

The exhibition of the new collection prepared by Daniel Rosebery for Schiaparelli was opened by Shalom Harlow and closed by Kendall Jenner. One of the highest-earning models of the 2010s, she wore a red strapless midi dress.

But what really matters is not the style or color, but the material. The final look of the Schiaparelli fashion show consisted of 3,650 fake nails. And this is not just a design decision, it is a filigree work with the brand’s archives. Elsa Schiaparelli herself produced the gloves with fake nails in her 1936 autumn-winter collection.

Paris Hilton at the Mugler fair

Yesterday all fashion channels on Telegram agreed that Casey Cadwallader no one knows how to create spectacular shows. This time, Irina Shayk, Natasha Poly, Amber Valletta, Anok Yai and Paris Hilton attended the show. Fans brought pieces from the new Mugler collection to life, adding drama to the runway looks.
