THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER Producer Jason Blum Says Taylor Swift ‘Scares the Hell Out of Me’

The Exorcist: Believer was originally supposed to be released on Friday, October 13th, but when it was announced Taylor Swift’S Tour of the Ages Film was supposed to come out on the same day, Blumhouse moved the release date a week, to October 6th, because they didn’t want to clash with that monster movie, which will be a huge success.

Producer Jason Blum she recently spoke about the release date shift with EW and said, “The only thing that scares the living daylights out of me is Taylor Swift!” She went on to explain, “We had this amazing Friday the 13th of October, which is the best day to release a scary movie.”

He initially paid tribute by writing the tag #Exorswift” on Twitter when Eras’ announcement came out. She continued, writing, “Look what you made me do,” quoting a Swift song.

“Obviously, we’ve moved away from that [date] and we bowed our heads to Taylor Swift. It was too risky to see whether ‘Exorswift’ would be successful or not. People will still have the Exorswift opportunity, so maybe we can have our cake and eat it too.”

I’m curious to see how The Exorcist: Believer does at the box office. I definitely like watching horror movies, so I’ll come and watch them. But there hasn’t been as much publicity as I thought. I haven’t seen many people express interest in watching it, but we’ll see.

In any case, Taylor Swift’s concert film will make a lot more money The Exorcist: Believer. Here is the synopsis of the film:

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya JewettGood Girls) alone.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum), disappear into the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened, sets off a chain of events that will force Victor to face the lowest point of evil and, in his terror and desperation, to search for the only person alive who has witnessed something similar before: Chris MacNeil.

This film is the first of a trilogy signed by Blumhouse and the director of Halloween David Gordon Green. The franchise also sees the return of Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil, “an actress who was forever changed by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades earlier.”

The film is also the protagonist Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Precious Stones of the Righteous) AND Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Stirpe) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.

David Gordon Green wrote the screenplay with Peter Sattler (Field x-ray). The story comes from Scott Teems (Halloween kills), Danny McBride (Halloween Trilogy) and Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.

The film will be released in theaters on Friday 6 October.
