It’s been a while since we’ve had an update on Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 4 project by anyone on the creative team. But screenwriter Lindsey Beer recently shared some information saying the project is still “on track.”
Speaking to Collider, he explained: “It is, it’s still on track. I love that project, and it was another one that I had to walk away from to direct this movie, and it was a hard thing to do. But I love that everyone is involved in that project.”
The film he hoped to direct was Pet Seminar: Bloodlines, but it seems like he’s still very much in the know about what’s going on. He was writing the script with Geneva Robertson-DworetWhen Matt Shakman was assigned to direct. He eventually left to work on Marvel’s Fantastic Four. At the moment no director is attached to the film.
The most recent version of Star Trek 4 was announced in 2022, and Star Trek director and producer Abrams shared at the time: “We are thrilled to say that we are working hard on a new Star Trek film that will be shot by end of the film. of the year which will feature our original cast and some new characters that I think will be really fun and exciting and help take Star Trek into areas you’ve never seen before.”
Abrams then offered an update on the film, saying he hasn’t yet found a new director for the film, but added that “this is the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first.
I don’t think Star Trek 4 will come out anytime soon. It will most likely still be many years before the film is made, but I’m sure we’ll see it one day.
