The first reactions for I saw X were shared on social media by critics who had the opportunity to attend an early screening of the film. Most of the reviews I’ve seen praise the film and its star, Tobin Bell. In fact, that’s what it says I saw X is one of the best films in the long-running horror series.
The movie trailers definitely piqued my interest in the movie, and I wasn’t really interested Saw franchising for years. But this one has a different concept that caught my attention, and that’s the fact that the story is set between the events of I saw it AND II and focuses more on the character John Kramer.
The film follows “a sick and desperate John as he travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover that the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous assassin returns to his work, turning the tables on crooks in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
The film’s goal is to make a film that “captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with new traps and a new mystery to solve.”
Check out the reactions below and let us know if you can’t wait to watch the next film in Saw franchising.
#SAWX it’s definitely one of the best in the franchise. Putting John Kramer center stage more than ever works brilliantly and Tobin Bell kills. Amanda’s “return” is brilliantly executed and the traps are some of the best, even when they’re pretty simple, plus the story is 👍👍 pic.twitter.com/C7K0m0cfQT

Safe to say I think #SawX is easily one of the best made films in the series. Without sacrificing any of the key ingredients that make a SAW film great, this new chapter delivers a more emotional story than I expected… oh and it’s a damn good time 🧩 pic.twitter.com/t0t8OjbJ8x

Now that the social embargo has been lifted, I am happy to announce it #SAWX is one of the BEST additions to the franchise. It brings back the original essence of the first film while allowing the audience to gain a deeper insight into Kramer. Plus, the traps are *chef’s kiss* pic.twitter.com/Le3NoMMMvU

#SawX it’s a glorious return to form for the series. Not only are the traps absolute perfection, but we see a very different side of John this time. He’s deep, emotional, gory, feels like OG SAW. Also, @CharlieClouser The score is AMAZING! pic.twitter.com/Y3Pcarvn3C

Going back to the past, #SawX injected fresh blood into the franchise. It delivers what you want (mostly blood-filled, gasp-inducing traps), but it also attempts something different with a Saw movie. It doesn’t all work, but it’s the strongest sequel to date. pic.twitter.com/5Eg7gACGWP

So, SAW X is absolutely brilliant, twisty, ultra gory and Tobin Bell is superb.

Initially adhering to a different structure from the one we are used to, #SawX he infuses a more human element as he dives into Kramer’s desperation. Fear not though, as he ultimately embraces the bloody carnage we’ve come to expect with some truly shocking tricks and traps that HURT. Damn fun! pic.twitter.com/N7mhIboVa9

ARE BACK. #SawX is EASILY one of the best films in the series. It’s crass, innovative and brilliant. It brings back the originality that the first films had. The cast is simply one of the best parts. Bring more, please. pic.twitter.com/dxqVJdxGZz

While I was at Universal today, the social embargo was lifted, so I can tell you now #SawX it’s gruesome, hard to watch, and probably the best Saw sequel in about 15 years. It fits perfectly between 1 and 2 and reveals a side of Jigsaw we’ve never seen before. Saw fans will have fun pic.twitter.com/546PnGaAgw

Our @zombievictim taken #SawX in Vegas last week and had a great time. She calls it a return to form for the series with Shawnee Smith stealing the show as Amanda. This is not to discredit Tobin Bell, who gives his best performance as Jigsaw yet. pic.twitter.com/44uqPibpEs

I have to see #SAWXand it was the first #SawMovie I saw. Tobin Bell is truly exceptional in this role, and I can see why the interest wanes without him, and he is very present in this role. I think fans will like it, but will he convert a new one? I’m still undecided. #Lionsgate pic.twitter.com/3QCSrDKO0E
