John Travolta auditioned for the role of Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli in HAPPY DAYS and here’s the story

Did you know that John Travolta auditioned for the role of Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli in the classic 1960s sitcom Happy days? This is the role that ultimately went to them Henry Winkler, which was perfect. But Travolta would have been an interesting choice too. Below you will find an interesting video from the YouTube channel I didn’t know that she goes into all this in detail.

Originally, former member of the band The Monkees Micky Dolenz he was considered for the role, but was too high compared to Ron Howard. Travolta wanted the role but didn’t want to go blonde, as The Fonz had originally envisioned.

Travolta said that when he read the script Fonzie was described as having blond hair. She said that she kept wondering if he would have to dye his hair blonde if she took the part and it seemed like he wasn’t really crazy about that idea. She didn’t have to worry about it for long because she didn’t get the part.

Eventually, Henry Winkler got the job and the dark hair:

Travolta said that when Happy Days finally aired and became a hit, he saw that the fawns had dark hair and thought I might be the Fonz after all.

Travolta’s career ended up taking off despite losing roles in projects such as Welcome back, Kotter, Saturday night Fever, Fatand more.
