Keith David he is set to reprise his role as Spawn again in the near future Call of Duty: Warzone AND Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 update. David originally voiced the character on HBO’s Awesome Spawn: The Animated Series project, and is the perfect voice for the iconic character!
Spawn will join call of Duty as the first licensed character to headline a battle pass. It looks like it’s going to be a big deal as it will be one of the most expansive crossovers in the Call of Duty series and will feature numerous Spawn-themed skins.
Todd McFarlane spoke to CB about the crossover and said, “There’s a cool guy named Keith David who did a great voice in [the HBO animated series]. And so they took the low-hanging fruit because I would have done the exact same thing. To me he’s Mr. Spawn when he talks, so they went with him. I was at the Activision studios on Friday and they said they just finished recording it. So they played me a couple of lines of him, it was like an HBO throwback. I say, ‘Oh, man, there’s my boy.'”
McFarlane was called upon to offer input on the dialogue that was written for the character, and went on to say, “I had to sign off on all the lines and it’s weird. The only thing I was looking for was whether he would say something that wouldn’t really be Spawn. But everything else I’m like, “I assume these are natural things that someone would say in your game and they make perfect sense.” So yeah, I love it. I know Keith will convey it in this tone that feels serious and sinister at the same time. time. That voice of his is like turning a corner, or being in dark water and coming face to face… face to face with a shark. He didn’t have to say much to know he meant business.”
It’s definitely going to be a cool and interesting crossover and I can’t wait! Spawn releases in Call of Duty on September 27th.
