Legendary Entertainment and the remake of Troma The toxic avenger recently had its grand premiere at Fantastic Fest, and people who were lucky enough to see it took to social media to share their reactions! I’ve been curious and excited about this movie, and judging by what people are saying, it looks like it’s going to be an absolutely crazy and fun movie!
The film is described as a “new retelling of Lloyd Kaufmannit’s a classic The toxic avenger“, and it is explained that “While the original film (premiered in 1984 – almost 40 years ago!) followed the fate of Melvin Ferd Junko III (Mitch Cohen), who goes from zero to toxic hero in a case of bullying gone wrong, Macon BlairThe contemporary version of follows a horribly deformed creature of superhuman size and strength all its own.”
Dinklage plays downtrodden caretaker Winston Gooze who, after falling into a vat of toxic waste, becomes none other than The Toxic Avenger. This timely retelling lives up to its environmental themes as Winston clashes with the evil forces of greed and corruption to save his son, his friends and his community.”
The synopsis also points out: “While this story exists on its own terms, the spirit undoubtedly remains connected to the original. Troma fans old and new will be pleased to know that the film has been rated “R” for violence and gore, per Troma tradition.”
The film was rated R with “strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references and brief graphic nudity.” There are also “ass guts” we can’t forget to mention the “ass guts”.
Peter Dinklage he stars in the film and he joined him Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylor Paige, Kevin BaconAND Jacob Tremblay.
#Avengertoxic it’s a crazy/goddamn DELIGHT. A wild concept brought to life by a team of people who understand exactly what they are doing and don’t hold back. The kind of movie that works as a hugely entertaining and very rowdy escape, and also feels like a celebration of… pic.twitter.com/A59GMiIOvy

The new Toxic Avenger is fantastic. It has the same over-the-top, hyper-energy and tone of the original film, but with more sickeningly good blood, makeup and heart. A lot of heart. Dinklage rules, Bacon as the villain is hilarious, he’s just totally irreverent and fun. pic.twitter.com/7Ro9Ix0Cad

Macon Blair’s remake of TOXIC AVENGER feels less like Troma and more like a live-action episode of SIMPSONS Treehouse of Horror. Peter Dinklage showcases Ron Perlman-level heavy makeup acting. I found it extremely funny. A lot of people will hate it.

If Paul Verhoeven made a Troma film instead of ROBOCOP in 1987, you might get something like Macon Blair’s THE TOXIC AVENGER. I love.

If you ever wanted to see Peter Dinklage stick his hand up someone’s anus and rip out their intestines, then you’ll love THE TOXIC AVENGER.#FantasticoFest

THE TOXIC AVENGER: It’s everything Troma you can put into a “traditional” Troma remake. Super gory, super off-color and super silly throughout. You will love it or hate it and you will know it pretty quickly! #FantasticoFest pic.twitter.com/LM6d1SSmaw

THE TOXIC AVENGER is a fantastic start to Fantastic Fest. Peter Dinklage in his most challenging performance yet. Very unconventional but also expected from Troma.

The huge awkward silence in my #FantasticoFest the theater during large stretches of “THE TOXIC AVENGER,” where there is cheesy gag after cheesy gag, shows me that this is destined to be THE most debated movie of the year on horror Twitter. Take it.
