SICARIO 3 is still in development with Benicio del Toro as the protagonist

For those of you wondering if we’ll ever see a third Hitman film, the answer is yes. According to the manufacturers Basil Iwanyk AND Erica Leethe film is still in development and Benicio del Toro he’s becoming a star again.

While speaking with The Messenger, Lee revealed that the script was in the writing stage when the Writers Guild of America strike began in May. Lee said: “The pencils were missing, but the idea is fantastic.”

Iwanyk added: “I can’t wait for Sicario 3. I could see Benicio playing that guy forever. I mean, I can watch Benicio in anything, but with that character he doesn’t get old.”

I loved the first two films in this franchise, so it will be nice to see the story continue with another chapter.

The Sicario films tell a compelling story that delves into the world of drug cartels and the American government’s efforts to fight them. The first film was directed by Denis Villeneuve and revolves around an idealistic FBI agent named Kate Macer who is enlisted by a government task force to help in the escalating drug war along the US-Mexico border. The narrative is intense and dark, highlighting the blurred lines between right and wrong, as well as the moral compromises made in the name of justice and national security.

Benicio del Toro plays Alejandro Gillick, a mysterious and formidable task force agent. While he initially appears to be a key ally to the U.S. government’s goals, it becomes clear that Alejandro has his own motivations, deeply rooted in a tragic past involving drug cartels.

His character is interesting and complex as he is often caught between hero and anti-hero. Del Toro’s portrayal of Alejandro is one of the highlights of the franchise, showing a man torn between a thirst for revenge and a search for justice. The character returns in the sequel, Sicario: Soldier’s Daywhere he takes a more central role, further exploring his complex relationship with the cartels and the US government.
