Richard Linklater and Glen Powell’s HIT MAN movie sells to Netflix for  million

Netflix recently acquired the director Richard Linklater’S (Boyhood, dazed and confused, School of Rock) upcoming film Hitman for 20 million dollars. The film is a true-crime comedy starring Top Gun: nonconformist‘S Glen Powell. Linklater and Powell previously worked together on the 2016 film Everyone wants some and Netflix’s animated sci-fi drama Apollo 10 1/2.

Hitman follows Powell as Gary Johnson, “a part-time teacher who works as a mysterious gunman for hire. But there’s a problem with hiring him to free a cheating spouse or abusive boss: He works for the police. When he breaks protocol to help a desperate woman (Adria Arjona ) trying to escape from an abusive husband, he finds himself becoming one of his false personas, falling in love with the woman and flirting with becoming a criminal himself.

Linklater adapted the screenplay with Powell from a Texas Monthly article by Skip Hollandsworthand received good reviews from the film festivals it was screened at.

Variety described the film as “a true-life romantic and philosophical noir comedy about the world’s most unlikely undercover agent.” The review states that Powell has “an unusual leading man vibe” and “looks like Guy Pearce punctuated by Ryan Gosling, with a slightly goofy smile that radiates the purest sincerity.”

It looks like a good and fun movie!
