There is something new James Bond upcoming reality TV series titled The road to a million 007s. The first season of the show has already been completed and is awaiting release, but casting for the second season is now underway.
The series is hosted by the Succession star Brian Cox, which controls “the fates of the show’s contestants as they embark on a Bond-style race around the world in the hope of winning a £1 million ($1.2 million) cash prize. Among the 007-inspired destinations they visit are the Scottish Highlands, Venice and Jamaica.
I can’t believe they got Brian Cox to host a reality show. I know it’s James Bond themed, but still! It’s a reality show!
The producers are currently looking for “the world’s most dynamic jet-setting couples, using their wits and general knowledge to answer hidden questions around the world.” Filming “should take place during 2024”.
It is explained that “You don’t have to be a Bond fan to apply, but we are looking for teams of two people who have a very close relationship and would like to have an adventure.” I’m always up for an adventure!
The project is a collaboration between Eon, Amazon Studios, 72 Films and MGM Alternative. Eon Productions owns the rights to James Bond and this is the first time ever that they have allowed the IP to be used in unscripted TV.
Eon director Barbara Broccoli said: “People have always come to us to make a TV show, [saying,] ‘Oh, you should do a Bond challenge. But we always stayed away from it because we didn’t want to put people in danger and make them do dangerous things, because it’s not for members of the public, it’s for trained professionals.
