Emmy nominated actress Kate Mara (House of cards, The Martian, A teacher) has signed on to star in the sci-fi thriller The astronaut opposing actor Gabriele Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate). They merge Laurence Fishburne (The matrix), which had been chosen previously. Director Jess Varley (Phobias) is making his solo and directorial debut with the film.
In the film, “astronaut Sam Walker (Mara) returns from her first space mission. She was found miraculously alive in a punctured capsule floating in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. While waiting to be reunited with her husband (Luna), she finds herself placed under intense NASA surveillance in a maximum security house for rehabilitation and medical testing under the control of General William Harris (Fishburne). However, when disturbing events begin to occur around her property, she fears that something extraterrestrial has followed her to Earth.
Cameras will begin rolling this October in Ireland under an interim SAG-AFTRA agreement.
