The first episode of the recently announced animated series Star Trek: Very short treks was released, which is titled “Skin a Cat”. The show is a fun homage to the iconic universe of the Star Trek animated series. The series celebrates the bold, the silly and the unusual in the animated universe of Star Trek.
The episode is set on the USS Enterprise and features Captain Kirk derailing a defense plan in the midst of an attack with his use of Earthly expressions that present a figurative rather than literal meaning. In the process, he simply offends everyone on the bridge of the Enterprise.
The episode was created by Casper Kelly (Too Many Cooks, Star Trek: Short Treks). The voice cast for the short film series includes Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Douglas Jones like Saru, Armin Shimermann like Quark, Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding like Uhura, Connor Trinner as Journey Tucker, Bruce Horak in the role of Hemmer, Noël Wells like Tendi, and Giorgio Takei as Sulu.
