X-Men comics writer Chris Claremontwho wrote classic comics included Days of Future Past AND The Dark Phoenix Sagahas returned to Marvel Comics for a new Wolverine series titled Wolverine: Madripoor Nights. The comic was developed to celebrate 50 years of Wolverine.
Claremont is writing the series, and Edgar Salazar he was brought on board to do the art. The comic will consist of five issues and will feature several variant covers from superstar artists, including Philip Tanof which you can see the cover below.
The story sees Wolverine team up with Captain America and Black Widow. Claremont said in a statement: “Hard to believe, Bub, I’ve known Logan for 50 years! And Natasha was in the first Marvel story I ever wrote. This journey back to Madripoor reveals hidden truths about two of my favorite characters from the series.” . adventure that shaped their lives.”
The description reads: “After defining the character for decades in his legendary work on Uncanny X-Men and directing the character’s first solo adventures, there’s no better creator to kick things off, and Claremont will mark the occasion by following up the events of one of his most beloved Wolverine tales: Uncanny X-Men #268. Featuring Jim Lee’s iconic artwork, this blockbuster issue is a hallmark of ’90s X-Men. The saga includes Wolverine’s first encounter with Captain America during World War II as they team up to rescue a young Natasha Romanoff and connects it to a present-day Wolverine adventure in which he fights alongside Black Widow in Madripoor. Claremont and Salazar will pick up things where Uncanny X-Men #268 left off as “Captain America joins Wolverine and Black Widow on the dangerous streets of Madripoor to hunt down a planet-threatening weapon and… multiple enemies who try to control it!”
It explains: “When a secret weapon brings Captain America to Madripoor, the trio you’ve been waiting decades for will finally come to fruition as the mission takes Logan and Black Widow in a race against time, against a multitude of enemies.” , including the Hand!
