Apple TV+ has released the first exciting teaser trailer for its upcoming Godzilla series Monarch: Monster Legacy. It features Kurt Russellwho is explaining some big secrets he has been hiding his mission to protect the world of Godzilla and the other giant Kaiju monsters, while also protecting humans. Things obviously didn’t go as planned because in the trailer we see Godzilla on a rampage!
The series is set in the same universe Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kongand the next sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Also featured in the trailer is John Goodman, who appeared in Kong: Skull Island.
This show really looks like it could be a great show! There’s a chance it might actually be better than the movies that have been made. We will see! I like what I see in this first teaser trailer, though.
Spanning three generations, the series follows “the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and follows two brothers who follow in their father’s footsteps to discover their family’s connection to the secret organization known as Monarch.” .
It is explained that “the clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), set in the 1950s and half a century later, in which Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.
The epic saga spans three generations and “reveals buried secrets and the way epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate in our lives.”
The series was developed by Chris Black AND Matt HamletAND Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Fantastic Four) directed the first two episodes. All three are also executive producers. Furthermore, Hiro Matsuoka AND Takemasa Arita executive producer on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.
It’s also in the cast Anna Sawai (Pachinko), Ren Watabe (461 Days of Bento), Kiersey Clemons (Hearts beat strong), Joe Tippett (Easttown Mare), Anders Holm (The Mindy Project), AND Elisa Lasowski.
