KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON Star Lily Gladstone calls YELLOWSTONE’s depiction of the American West ‘delusional’ and ‘lamentable’

Lily Gladstonewho will be the protagonist Martin Scorsesethe next historical drama, The flower moon killerscondemned Hollywood’s glorification of the American West in film and television, particularly in the Kevin Costner-led series, Yellowstone.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Gladstone called the series “Delusional! Regrettable!” although he blames none of the Native American actors for appearing on the show, adding, “No offense to the Native talent in this one. I’ve auditioned several times. That’s what we got.

The series Yellowstone and its spin-off series 1883 AND 1923 follow several generations of the Dutton family and their ranch in Montana. Creator Sheridan has defended his series multiple times in the past from critics who referred to the shows as “anti-wake-up” or “red state show.”

In January, Gladstone told Variety how Scorsese worked closely with the real Osage Nation to ensure an accurate portrayal of the community in his film.

“Work is better when you let the world shape work,” Gladstone said. “It was really nice how the production was involved in the [Osage Nation] Community. As the community grew closer to our presence, the more they became involved in the film. It’s a different movie than that [Scorsese] i came in to make it almost entirely because of what the community had to say about how it was made and what it stood for.

“It’s not a white savior story,” Gladstone told Vulture of the film. “It’s the Osage saying, ‘Do something.’ Here’s the money. Come and help us.”

The flower moon killers will be released in theaters worldwide on October 20.
