Stranger things was one of the highest quality and highest rated series ever to appear on a streaming service. The Netflix show was released in 2016, and the binge seasons have kept fans engaged and looking forward to the fifth and final installment, which is due out next year. But one of the most interesting aspects of the show has been watching the young cast grow from season to season and hearing the silly behind-the-scenes stories of the making of the series.
The youngest members of the cast were between the ages of eleven and fourteen when the first season came out, so you can imagine they had a lot to learn and a lot of silly moments to overcome. One such moment was documented in 2016, in a recurring column on EW.com, where the creators of the show, The Duffer Brothersthey shared behind-the-scenes stories of each episode and revealed that in episode 7 of the first season, a set actually had to be evacuated due to a young actor experiencing flatulence.
“We’re shooting a scene in the abandoned bus and one of the guys decides to fart. More than once. The stuff in the bus got so toxic that the crew had to evacuate temporarily. The next day we had a pep talk which basically boils down to, “We’ve come to the end. Don’t drop the ball. Let’s bring this home.” Generic middle school sports coach talk, we know, but it worked. After our chat, the kids got together, “Focus!”, and did some of their best and most exciting work in the show. We’re proud of it” for so many reasons, and this is one of them. It’s a really great group of future stars. Fart aside. “
It’s a great story! It would be even funnier if we were told who the culprit was, but it’s nice of the directors not to report them. I bet whoever did it will admit it after all these years! It makes the serious bus scene that much funnier for the next time you sit down to watch.
Stranger things Seasons 1-4 are currently streaming on Netflix and season 5 will be released in 2024.
