National Cinema Day returns on August 27, and if you go to see a movie that day at the theater, tickets will only cost you $4! All movies and all formats including IMAX! More than 3,000 locations with approximately 30,000 available screens across the country are expected to take part in the one-day event.
National Cinema Day is designed to “celebrate the power of films to bring us all together” but of course part of the plan is also to get people into cinemas, fill those seats and experience the magic of movies! Last year’s inaugural National Cinema Day was the busiest day of 2022, according to the National Association of Theater Owners. That means there will be plenty of popcorn sales and concessions.
Jackie Brennemann, president of the Cinema Foundation, said in a statement, “Following the thrilling success of the first annual National Film Day, we welcome all to join us for a shared experience of one of America’s favorite pastimes. : go to the cinema. We can’t wait to reunite at the cinema and celebrate an exciting slate of new releases and classics, from beloved family favorites and outrageous comedies to thought-provoking dramas and thrilling adventures. There is something for everyone.
Michael O’Leary, president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Theater Owners, added: “Movies have the power to bring us together to share the joy, thrill and magic of a great story told on the big screen. National Cinema Day is a celebration of film fandom and the bonding role that movie theaters play in our communities.”
Jerry Hainlinesenior vice president of Fandango Ticketing, sponsor of the event, said: “With consumers’ appetite for top-notch entertainment and a number of blockbuster summer films still in theatres, National Cinema Day offers cinema lovers across the country the chance to see one or more titles at a great price.”
As for the movies that will be available… whatever is in theaters! Barbie, Oppenheimer, Gran Turismo, Demeter’s Last Voyage, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Hilland more!
