Disney+ Star Wars limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi it was one that somehow fell flat for the fans. He wasn’t without some interesting moments, and he wasn’t all bad, but he seemed to suffer from less than great writing, and it felt like he could have gone further and done more. It was written as a one-shot story, and it felt like it was all done, but the director Deborah Chow says there’s a small chance that might not be the case, at least that’s if Ewan McGregor has something to say about it.
In a recent interview with THR, Chow explained:
“You always think you’re going to finish a series like this in a great way, but instead you end up in a parking lot with second unit and hardly anyone there. It’s always so disappointing, but when Ewan and I finished our last second unit shoot and I was literally taking my headphones off, he was already pitching me ideas for season 2. There’s another 10 years with a lot of stories, and I don’t think it’s out of place. It’s a ‘never say never’ situation, but we’ve got it really conceived as a limited series”.
Chow says McGregor has a lot of ideas, but keeps stressing that the show was created as a limited series and talks about how difficult it was to make it with a gap between two film trilogies.
“That was the biggest challenge of the whole project, and that’s also why it went through so much development. You’re between two trilogies with these huge and iconic characters. Everyone knows what happened to them, before and after, and you” We’re starting with a character where the public perception is that he should be sitting on that rock for 20 years, but those 20 years [between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope] He had so much to explore on an emotional level.”
Do you think the series had a chance to tell a great story? Or do you think another season might give the show a chance to really take the story to the next level?
