Warrior nun, the series that was canceled by Netflix after two seasons, is confirmed to return, but this time it will return as a film trilogy, which is fantastic news! All this thanks to the support of the fans of the show.
A couple of months ago it was reported that the series has been picked up and we just speculated that it would be for a third season. Series creator Simon Barry previously said: “Today I am happy to officially announce that, thanks to your combined voices, passion and incredible efforts, #WarriorNun will be back and will be more EPIC than you can imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank you!!”
Little did we know that the epic plan was to develop a trilogy of films! Executive producer English Dean made the latest announcement on social media, saying Netflix has picked three movies based on the comic book character The warrior nun Areala Of Ben Dunn.
He said: “I have to start by thanking all of you loyal fans. It is because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing to make these stories come true. Guys, it’s really worth it. So thank you so much for your continued support. I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun will be back as a trilogy of films. Again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”
English went on to acknowledge the walkouts in Hollywood involving actors and writers and went on to say, “Some might ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that a universe of Warrior nun, which could expand into movies and TV series following characters we already know?’ The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.”
The series is based on the manga-style comic series of the same name created by Ben Dunn. The story is set in the midst of an ancient war between good and evil, and follows “a young girl wakes up in a morgue with unexplained powers. Her search for answers leads her to The Order of the Cruciform Sword, a secret society of warrior nuns sworn to protect the world from evil. As she juggles her chosen responsibilities with the normal obstacles of a teenager, this mysterious fantasy drama is filled with mystery, action, adventure and teenage romance, proving that our main character may fight for good, but she’s not a angel .”
Watch English’s announcement video below. I enjoyed the first two seasons of this show and I’m thrilled that the story will continue with three movies!
