The first teaser trailer has been released for an upcoming Bruce Lee martial arts anime series titled Lee’s house. The series comes from Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee and Bruce Lee Entertainment. The trailer looks like Lee’s classic film Enter the Dragon is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Bruce Lee Entertainment has been trying for years to make a Bruce Lee animated project and they are finally doing it. Shannon Lee was ultimately inspired by her own experiences to create the story behind House of Lee.
Lee said in a statement, “Anime is an amazing medium to tell a really creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee. I am so excited about the possibilities for action, fantasy, history, culture and creativity within this medium.
Lee’s house is “an action/fantasy series that sees Bruce Lee struggle to assemble his Dragon Warriors before the world plunges too far into darkness and shadow. It takes its inspiration from Bruce Lee’s famous quote, ‘Those who are unaware that they walk in darkness will never seek the light.’”
Bruce Lee Entertainment has partnered with content platform Shibuya and its co-founder, artist Emily Yang. Shibuya specializes in community campaign development which is how Bruce Lee Entertainment was able to produce the project independently. Lee decided to team up with Shibuya after seeing her White Rabbit anime short, which was co-created by Yang, who is in the web3 space.
Lee added, “I love Emily and Shibuya’s point of view. They are such creative, hard working, skilled artists with an amazing brand, I just knew they would be the perfect collaborators. The organic way it all came together speaks volumes about our potential collaboration and it was amazing!
Yang said, “She put us in touch and she told me about her project House of Lee, an anime about the legacy of the Lee family. I immediately found myself resonating with the narrative as it touches on themes of spirituality, battling your inner demons, and so many aspects of the AAPI experience. With such a personal story, Shannon really wanted to retain creative control and ownership. At Shibuya, our mission is to help creators do just that and so I knew this was something we had to be a part of.
