Zachary Quinto Still Hopeful STAR TREK 4 Will Happen, Explains Why He Thinks The Project Is Stalled

Paramount Pictures and producer JJ Abrams they tried to get Star Trek 4 off the ground for over seven years and, for some reason, they just can’t get back together. It’s so insane that they couldn’t get another one Star Trek movie made because everyone wants it to happen! But the project had been plagued with problems and there were several starts and stops.

During a recent Q&A session at the 57-year mission convention in Las Vegas, Zechariah Quintus was asked by a fan if he believed the stream Star Trek the shows on Paramount+ were the reason Paramount didn’t move forward with another one Star Trek movie. Quinto said:

“I don’t think it has anything to do with it. Actually, I think the more there is, the more it gets people excited about what could be.

Quinto then gave his opinion on why he thinks the Star Trek franchise hasn’t moved on, saying:

“I think there are many other things, creative things. It’s complicated. The fact that anything good is done is a kind of miracle. I think it’s about different people having different agendas and different ideas of what’s going to be. And I don’t know if or when that’s going to happen… And if it merges again and we come back and we’re able to do that, wonderful. Otherwise we had a great run.

The newest release of the film was announced in 2022 and Star Trek Director and producer Abrams shared at the time, “We’re thrilled to say that we’re hard at work on a new Star Trek movie that will be filming later this year that will feature our original cast and some new characters that I think which will be really fun and exciting and help take Star Trek into areas you’ve never seen before.

Matt Shakman (Wanda Vision) was supposed to direct the film, but ended up dropping out to develop Marvel’s Fantastic Four. It was then removed from Paramount’s release schedule.

Abrams later offered an update on the film saying he still hasn’t found a new director for the film, but added that “it’s the first time [since the original reboot] that we have a story that feels as compelling as the first one.

I’m sure we will have a new one someday Star Trek movie, but that won’t happen any time soon, especially with the strikes going on.
