Live-Action HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and Orion’s Plan B/HEDDA both delayed start of production due to strikes

The live-action adaptation of the 2010 Universal Pictures animated film How to train your dragon, was due to begin filming at Titanic Studios in Belfast this month, with a theatrical release slated for March 2025. But with the SAG/AFTRA strike underway, the studio has put the film’s plans on hold. The cast announced so far includes Freemason Thames AND Nico ParkerWhile Dean DeBloiswho wrote the screenplays for the original animated trilogy, is making his directorial debut with the film.

Another movie that gets paused is the writer/director Nia DaCosta’S Eddaan adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 play, epically and emotionally reimagined in this production, Hedda Gabler. It was due to begin filming in the UK by the end of the summer, but has been postponed. Produced by Orion Pictures, Plan B Entertainment and Viva Maude, Tessa Thompson co-star with Callum Turner, Nicholas Pinnock, Eve Hewson AND Nina Hoss.

This adds to the long list of productions that are currently on hiatus. Hopefully the strike will be resolved soon and movies and shows will be back to work.
