Director Denis Villeneuve did an amazing job with Blade Runner 2049 and, for the most part, fans of the franchise loved the movie. Ridley Scott he was unable to direct it because he was making it Alien: Covenant at the time, but Scott doesn’t regret the decision he made and thinks he should have directed Blade Runner 2049.
When speaking about the decision he had to make between the two films, Scott told Empire, “I shouldn’t have made that decision. But I had to. I should have Blade Runner 2.”
I mean, between the two, Blade Runner 2049 it was definitely the best movie and honestly, the way it turned out, I’m glad Villeneuve made it! There is no doubt that when he saw that film and saw how good it was, he immediately regretted choosing Alien: Covenant.
What’s done is done, though! Scott worked as a producer in Blade Runner 2049and will also produce the upcoming Prime Video TV series Blade Runner 2099. Speaking about that, she said, “I’m one of the producers. It’s all set years later. For me, it surrounds the idea of Aldous Huxley’S New world.”
I can’t wait for the future of the Blade Runner franchise and I’m sure this series will be great. But it would be nice to see another Blade Runner movie on the big screen. If we get another Blade Runner movie, I think I’d rather see Villeneuve direct it than Scott. What do you think?
