A new teaser trailer has been released for The nun 2which is the next installment of The Evocation cinematic universe. The teaser offers footage of the demonic nun, Valak, terrorizing a group of children at a boarding school in France. If you’re looking to scare people, this sounds like the perfect place to do it!
The film is set in 1956 in France. “A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows sister Irene as she once again comes face to face with Valak, the demon nun.
In the story, there is a series of murders in the Vatican and the church believes that Valak is the cause. So they call Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) to help and face the nun again. Sister Irene is attempting to live a fairly anonymous life in a convent in Italy, but she doesn’t do so well when Valak, now possesses Irene’s friend Maurice (Jonas Bloquet).
The director of the film, Michael Chaves, previously explained that Sister Irene “has lived this traumatic experience, this great adventure, and now she wants to live the life of service. Maurice went to France and works in this boarding school as a handyman. He has a friendship and flirtation with one of the teachers there, and you can see him starting to mature, so that’s where our characters begin. But we know from the first film that there is something terrible inside him, that Valak has escaped inside him, and events put Irene back on a collision course with her old friend.”
Speaking earlier about Valek, the director said, “I really think the nun is a classic cinematic monster.” He then dropped some horror movie characters he sees in character, saying, “she reminds me of Pennywise and Dracula and Nosferatu. I see every classic monster when I look at her. I feel like she’s absolutely up there in that pantheon.”
The film is also the protagonist Storm Reid (The Last of Us), Anna Popplewell (The Chronicles of Narnia) AND Bonnie Aarons (The nun).
