BATMAN: THE PHANTOM MASK is releasing on 4K Blu-ray for its 30th anniversary

The classic animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm received a 4K remaster for its 30th anniversary and will receive a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release to celebrate.

This is considered by many to be one of the best Batman movies ever made and it’s so good that after all these years Warner Bros. and DC have finally given it the 4K remaster it deserves. It would be even cooler if they actually re-released it in theaters!

In the film: “When a woman from Bruce Wayne’s past, Andrea Beaumont, returns into his life, Bruce questions whether he should continue to protect Gotham City as Batman. But his insight is short-lived when the city’s most notorious crime bosses are killed and the Caped Crusader is blamed for their murders. The Dark Knight sets out to clear his name, revealing a new masked vigilante: the Phantom.”

The set includes the new feature film special “Kevin Conroy: I am the Knight,” which pays homage to the late actor who voiced the Dark Knight in Batman: The Animated Series and other projects for decades.

Alongside Conroy, he also stars in the film Dana Delany as Andrea Beaumont, Bob Hastings as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Alfred Pennyworth, Robert Constance as Detective Harvey Bullock, and Mark Hammill like the joker. They are united by Hart Bochner as corrupt Gotham City councilman Arthur Reeves; Abe Vigoda as aging gangster Sal “The Wheezer” Valestra; Dick Miller and John P. Ryan as mobsters Chuckie Sol and Buzz Bronski; AND Stacy Keach as Carl Beaumont, Andrea’s father.

Speaking earlier on the film’s 25th anniversary, Batman franchise producer Michael Uslan said, “If, like me, you believe there are 10 elements that make a great movie, and they are: story; story; story; story; story; story; character; character; character; and story; then, without a doubt, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm could be the greatest Batman movie ever seen by the media.”

Batman: The Mask of the Phantom will be available as a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + digital combo pack on September 12.
