Well Go USA has released a trailer for a Korean action thriller titled Ransomed. The film follows a young diplomat who is tasked with carrying a ransom to rescue a diplomat kidnapped in Lebanon. As you might expect, a lot of things go wrong.
In the story, after a South Korean diplomat (Ha Jung-woo) is sent to the Middle East, “suddenly receives a coded message from a colleague kidnapped and believed long dead, he volunteers to lead the dangerous rescue mission. But when the plan goes awry, he’s forced to team up with a local cab driver, the only Korean expatriate he can find, and travel deep into the heart of Lebanon in a last-ditch effort to bring their compatriot home.
The movie actually looks like a good thriller. I actually really enjoy watching korean movies and shows right now. They tell good stories! Ransomed is directed by Kim Seong-hun (How Lack of Love Affects Two Men, A Difficult Day, Tunnel, Kingdom: Ashin of the NorthAND The kingdom).
Ransomed will be released in select US theaters starting August 4, 2023.
