James Cameron says several sequels to ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL are in the planning stages

James Cameron he recently dropped quite a bit of news regarding the future of Alita: Battle Angel! Fans hoped that one day we’d see a sequel made, and according to the director, we’re not just getting one sequel, we’re getting many!

Cameron dropped the news during a recent Forbes interview. While discussing the sale of his ranch on California’s Gaviota Coast, he confirmed that multiple Alita: Battle Angel movies are in the planning stages. Here’s what he said:

“And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel movies, I’m working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense to us anymore.”

The fact that they are planning more Alita: Battle Angel movies make me so happy! I loved that first movie and this is such an interesting world to explore and expand. Sounds like director’s hype Roberto Rodríguezand producer Jon Landau worked!

The movie is based on the manga series Gunnm Of Yukito Kishiro. The story is set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the Iron City junkyard by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, he has no memory of who he is, nor does she have any recognition of the world he is in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to protect her from her. mysterious past.

Landau previously spoke about the sequel saying, “We’re working on it” and shared, “We’re very excited about this prospect. Alita is a film that even now having recently re-watched it for what we had, we have ‘I’m really proud of that film . And we think there are more stories to tell with the character than him and that’s why we want to go back to it.”

The producer also explained that when they make the film, they will use the film technology that was created to help bring Avatar 2: The Water Way to life: “I think what we’ve learned from Avatar is how much more facial nuance and subtlety we can put into characters that we want to be emotional and emotional that are humanoid. Alita would not have been possible, but for what we did on Avatar. Avatar: Way of Water would not be what it is, but what we did for Alita. And now let’s put it back and give it back to Alita. We are talking to Robert and talking to Rosa and all is well.

Cameron and Rodgriguez initially planned a trilogy of films, and Cameron had written over a thousand pages of notes that would cover the entire story. Looks like they could actually make that vision come true!
