Dark and twisted details revealed for unannounced SILENT HILL game SILENT HILL: THE SHORT TAPES

silent Hill is one of my favorite horror video game franchises. For the most part, the games that have been made offer wonderful twisted stories with nightmarish thrills. There’s a new game in development that hasn’t been officially announced yet, but details have been leaked about it.

The game is titled Silent Hill: The Short Tapes, and some new story and character details have emerged. I have to say… this game seems to be dark as hell.

The leak comes from DuskGolem (via GamesRadar), which is said to be a reliable source when it comes to horror projects. Note that the story details are as of late 2020 and things may have changed as the game has been developed over the years at Konami.

I should also warn that the plot details below include descriptions of self-harm and suicide. The notes have been translated from Japanese.

The game follows Anita Planelt, a 17-year-old who suffers from suicidal ideation. “Anita is a shy girl whose only friend is another more popular girl named Maya, who she has known for years. Maya distances herself from Anita when the latter starts watching “shocking” videos, slitting her wrists and writing some sort of supposedly creepy story.

It is explained that “One day, Maya is found dead by apparent suicide, to the horror of her classmates. As Anita grapples with the loss of her friend, she decides to visit the site of her death, an abandoned apartment complex, to better both understand her mental state at the time and satiate her curiosity about the mysterious activities on Maya’s social media accounts.

Yeah, it feels like a very nightmarish and dark story, especially with the suicide involved because it’s such a heavy subject to play with. What do you think of the details that have been revealed so far for the game?
