‘Secret Invasion’ 1×03 Recap: One scene would change the future of the MCU

The third episode of Secret Invasion has left the fans of the Marvel cinematic universe with a heavy heart and raised even more questions about the future of the series. In this thrilling installment, we follow Nick Fury as he desperately fights against the Skrull infiltration that threatens the Earth. But Gravik reveals his true intent by coldly stating, “It was not a failure. The plane crash would have been beneficial. But discovering the traitor was essential.” At that moment, without hesitation, Gravik shoots G’iah, taking his life and leaving Talos and Fury devastated.

G’iah’s death comes as an unexpected emotional blow, as Marvel rarely kills off so many heroes in their productions. This shocking murder not only removes an important source of information for Fury and Talosbut also sends a clear message that Gravik is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. It’s clear that Talos will take this loss personally and seek to avenge his daughter, further escalating the tension and conflict in the series.

Is Varra an insider? Did she cheat on Nick Fury?

The third episode reveals that Varra, Fury’s wife, is actually an insider working for Gravik. As she pulls a gun from a bank safe, she receives an intriguing phone call. The voice on the other end of the line says, “St. James’s Church. One hour.” Without hesitating, Varra replies that she needs to talk to Gravik. This twist reveals that Nick’s years of absence have left a mark on their relationshipleading Varra to betray her husband and join the enemy side.

However, it remains to be discovered who the mysterious voice on the other end of the phone is. Surprisingly, the voice replies with determination: “You will talk to me.” The most attentive fans of wonder surely they instantly recognized that unmistakable voice, belonging to Don Cheadle, known for playing James Rhodes, aka War Machine.

This revelation confirms that Rhodes is also on Gravik’s side, which raises a number of questions about his loyalty and whether he could be a Skrulls in disguise, as was suspected since the previous episode due to his suspicious behavior.

To definitively reveal the identity of the mysterious ally and solve all these unknowns, the followers of covert invasion they’ll have to wait until the fourth episode premieres on Disney+ on July 12. Undoubtedly, the development of the plot will become even more intense as the characters deal with the consequences of G’iah’s death and discover the true nature of those around them.
