Blumhouse has been attempting to make a SNEAKY and SINISH crossover film

Blumhouse has found a lot of success thanks to the horror films they have made over the years. They’re doing a great job out there and fans of the genre have been enjoying the fruits of their labor. It turns out that at one point they were trying to build a shared universe and actually tried to develop one Insidious AND Left cross movie! This little info came from Jason Blum himself in a recent interview with Cinepop, and explained why it never happened:

“I think it would be fun to do, but we have to find the right story. We’ve been developing it for a while, like you said, you’re right, we’ve been developing it for a while, but we’ve never been able to find a big movie. And I didn’t want to make a movie just for the sake of combining the two franchises. I wanted to make a movie that was really good. We never had a great idea, but I’m open to it.”

I understand that crossover movies like that can be fun, but sometimes it’s just not necessary. The fact that they couldn’t decipher a story because of it Insidious/Sinister the crossover is just proof that the movie didn’t need to be made.

I like both franchises, but there’s really no reason for them to cross paths. Insidious it centers on a couple whose son slips into a state of astral projection, making him a conduit for demonic activity and essentially allowing him to become possessed. Left follows a struggling true crime writer who finds a collection of disturbing violent and gruesome films, and finds himself drawn into a horrific nightmare.
