YU-GI-OH! Announces 3 exciting sets for the TCG

About 1-2 weeks ago, Konami made some exciting announcements for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading card game. First, they announced a new core set releasing on October 20 called Age of the overlord. This set will see new cards to support Supreme King Z-ARC from Maximum crisis including a new form that is a Dragon/Fusion/Pendulum Monster. There will also be a researcher released for Supreme King Z-ARC to help you be more consistent. In addition, Visas Starfrost continues to receive new supports, including a new level 4 Tuner, a Pendulum Monster and a level 6 Mannadium Synchro Monster. Finally, Horus is rising from the ashes to perhaps be a new archetype with new cards for Special Summons from the Graveyard and make things worse for your opponent. You can find the rarity breakdown by Age of the overlord under.

  • 10 secret rare cards

  • 14 ultra rare

  • 26 super rare

  • 49 Municipalities

  • (24 of these cards are also available as Quarter Century Secret Rare and 1 special card is ONLY available as Quarter Century Secret Rare!)

Secondly, Konami announced the Starter set for 2 players. This set for Yu-Gi-Oh! will offer two decks along with a 64-page comic to walk you through a scripted duel to learn the ropes. One deck will focus on Synchro Monsters while the other will focus on Xyz Monsters. This sounds like a good starting point for anyone curious about how to play, and I think it’s smart to slowly incorporate different types of Extra Decks. Depending on what cards are in the decks, this could be really useful for onboarding new duelists.

Thirdly, duelists will be able to enjoy the 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection this november. This is an all foil set featuring 79 of the most popular cards from Yu-Gi-Oh! in 7 different rarities. What makes this incredibly exciting is the introduction of two brand new rarities for the TCG: Prismatic Collector’s Rares (“created with extra sparkle”) and Prismatic Ultimate Rares (“with an embossed 3D paint effect”). These are previously Asia-exclusive rarities as a Collector’s Rare and Ultimate Rare exclusively, and many TCG fans have coveted these rarities. We don’t have a full breakdown of the cards, but we do know the following:

  • Ash blossom and joyful spring

  • Baron de Fleur

  • Borreload Wild Dragon

  • veiling effect

  • Egyptian god slime

  • Forbidden drop

  • Infinite impermanence

  • Nibiru, the primeval being

  • Pot of Prosperity

  • Triple Tactical Talent

Every card in the pack will be available in every rarity, making it very exciting. Each pack will include 5 cards (2 Super Rares, 2 Ultra Rares, 1 Secret Rare) with the possibility of 1-3 of the cards having the new “luxury rare” technologies. There is a 1 in 4 chance that the Secret Rare is a Platinum Secret Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare and a 1 in 6 chance that each of the Ultra Rares is a Prismatic Collector’s Rare or Prismatic Ultimate Rare. What cards do you hope to see in 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection?
