The Jack Kirby Estate Releases Official Statement About Disney+ Documentary STAN LEE

Earlier this week, Jack KirbyNeal Kirby’s son shared a statement on Twitter slamming the new one Stan Lee documentary that was released on Disney+. That statement criticized the doctor for not really giving Kirby the credit he deserved for the work he’s done at Marvel Comics.

Now the Kirby Estate has released an official statement on Facebook about Kirby’s “global contribution to the comic book industry.” This declaration reads:

“Stan Lee’s latest documentary is another example of regurgitating falsehoods and repeating long-debunked ideas in the creation of these beloved Marvel characters. Jack and Stan were an amazing team, whose combined talents ushered in an entire universe of superheroes. that have inspired generations.The Jack Kirby Estate has and will continue to ensure comic book and pop culture fans understand Jack’s importance in the creation of the Marvel Universe.This continuation to push a challenged narrative also hurts Stan’s legacy Lee and continued contempt for Jack in the creation of these iconic characters.

“It is truly heartbreaking for the family to have to once again fight to secure Jack’s legacy and his overall contribution to the comic book industry. Jack Kirby was more than an artist, he was a visionary and creative force whose contribution to the creation of many Marvel characters goes far beyond putting pencil to paper. Stan Lee will rightfully be remembered as a comic book champion, creative powerhouse, and frontman for one of the world’s most respected brands. It’s time for the world to discover the other creative force behind their favorite superhero.

It’s pretty crazy that after all these years, after all this drama, Kirby still isn’t getting the credit he deserves for the work he’s done for Marvel Comics and the comic book industry. It is understandable that the family is upset that this keeps happening! Seriously though, without Kirby or Steve Ditko, Marvel Comics wouldn’t be what they have become.
