After Christopher McCarrie AND Tom Cruise shielded Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part one For Edgar Wright, offered advice after seeing it that McQuarrie felt changed the film completely. During an interview with Total Film, the director explained:
“Edgar came to one of the last showings [of the film], and I asked a simple question about a specific sound, some kind of audio cue, and I thought I answered that note. It was so obvious to me. But it wasn’t obvious to Edgar.
And when I asked the audience, it wasn’t obvious to them either. No one thought to bring it up until Edgar did. And that changed the whole movie. It changed the whole movie for the better. You just need honesty and clarity and awareness. No person, Tom [Cruise] including, he can actually sit there and watch the movie 24 hours a day, objectively. Tom and I are going to look into each other’s eyes and say, ‘do we want to change this? Or is that what we prefer?'”
It offers any scene or sound detail that was addressed, but it must be a big deal if it completely changed the entire movie! It doesn’t sound like it would be a big deal, but McQuarrie makes sure to note that it was a big deal! I wonder if it will be obvious to us when we see the movie for ourselves.
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, first part, “Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, he embarks on a deadly race around the globe. Facing a mysterious and all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to realize that nothing matters more to his mission than he does, not even the lives of those he cares most about.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part one will be released in theaters on July 12 and the second part is currently dated July 28, 2024.
