A third Batman accompanies Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck in ‘The Flash’

The Flash, one of the most anticipated films of the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) and cinema in general in 2023, has generated a huge buzz since its first announcement. Fans have woven theories about what might be going on in this tape played by Ezra Millerand now the surprises that await us are even bigger than we imagined.

The story of the fast scarlet runner comes as an attempt to make amends for the chaos that has plagued the DC cinematic universe after several box office flops and bad reviews in movies like Batman vs Superman, Justice League and Aquaman.

He Return of Michael Keaton as Batman in his iconic role, more than three decades after his last appearance under the direction of Tim Burton, was already reason enough to look forward to this film. But what we weren’t prepared for were the other surprises he had in store for us.

Although Keaton’s involvement was hinted at, no one expected the reveal of a third Batman in The Flash. Some theorized that it was Christian Bale, who played the Dark Knight in Christopher Nolan’s epic trilogy, while others bet on Robert Pattinson, the last actor to play the Gotham hero. However, we now know that the third Batman is played by the charismatic George Clooney.

It is at the end of the film that Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), after believing he has solved the multiversal mess, meets Bruce Wayne, only to discover that Gotham’s billionaire is no longer someone he knew, but someone else.

Nicolas Cage also surprises as Superman

But the surprises don’t end there. Beyond return of Michael Keaton and inclusion of George Clooney as Bruce Wayne, The Flash also gives us an exciting nod to the past of superheroes. In one of the scenes of the film, we can see Nicolas Cage playing Superman as he faces a giant spider. This nostalgic moment reminds us that Cage was about to play the Man of Steel in a film that never saw the light of day.

Also, as Barry Allen travels across the multiverse, we’re delighted to see the iconic Superman played by Christopher Reeve and George Reeves. These iconic actors who brought the Man of Steel to life at different times unite for this journey back in time, paying homage to DC’s rich and diverse history of Super Heroes.
