How TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM will embrace the teenage side of the characters

One of the things I really like about the footage I saw from the upcoming movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Chaos this is how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters present themselves as real teenagers. They are playful and silly and fun and do the kind of silly things only teenagers would do.

President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation Ramsey Naito she recently sat down for an interview with Deadline and talked about how producers Seth Rogen AND Jeff Row wanted to place a strong focus on the “teenager” side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She said:

“[Seth and Jeff] I really wanted to tell a story that embraced the teenage side – and to our surprise there hadn’t been any story told about the teenage side that was weird. Jeff in particular gravitated towards teenage doodles, the high school doodles that kids start making in their notebooks… Those doodles are infused, inspired and embraced by budding hormones and dreams of empowerment and a desire to be accepted.

He went on to say:

“All of those things combined really inspired the look of the film that’s so tactile, and it also ended up imbued with the spirit of New York: the smells of the subway, grit, grime, energy. It has so much energy from an aesthetic point of view. The development came from the teenage part of TMNT which was really organic. And because of the coming-of-age part, Seth being the comedic genius that he is through these unique characters brought voice and comedy and heart.

One of the other things that was done to reduce the teenage authenticity is that they gathered all the young teenage voice actors in the recording studios and let them enjoy riffing on each other, acting like normal goofy teenagers. This movie will be a good time!

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Chaos, after years sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as ordinary teenagers through heroic deeds. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in the way when an army of mutants is unleashed against them.

When previously talking about the tone of the film, the director Jeff Row revealed the vibe they were going for: “We wanted it to be like Stand by Me AND Lady Bird. But, you know, with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The voice cast of the film includes Micah Abbey like Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. like michelangelo, Nicola Cantu like Leonardo, Brady Noon like Raphael, Jackie Chan like Splinter, John Cena as Rocksteady, Seth Rogen like be-bop, Ice cube like Superfly, Rosa Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasia Demetrius like Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd such as Mondo Gecko, e Maya Rodolfo as Cynthia Utrom.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters August 2.
