Grand Admiral Thrawn Actor Lars Mikkelsen Talks Changes He’s Making for His Live-Action Debut in STAR WARS: AHSOKA

Star Wars fans are extremely excited that Grand Admiral Thrawn will make his live-action debut in Lucasfilm Star Wars: Ahsoka series. It’s even more exciting than the voice actor who portrayed the character Star Wars: Rebels, Lars Mikkelsenwill reprise the role in live-action.

During a recent interview with Empire, Mikkelsen talked about how he approached the live-action version of the character differently than how he portrayed him in Rebels due to the movement of the vehicle. He explained:

“I’m not losing my voice, but I’m turning it into live-action. When you’re playing an animated character, there’s a completely melodious approach. When you’re there as a real person, that would be a bit much.”

So the voice will be a little different, which is not a big deal. I’m especially curious to see how it will be in its live-action form! Mikkelsen went on to talk about the Star Wars bad, saying:

“I love the way he works his way through the Empire and the way he goes through that environment to become someone. And then of course how can you not like a very smart villain? Thrawn takes the time to understand the culture about his opponent, and what they’re talking about. It’s nice to play him.”

Speaking earlier about playing the live-action version of Thrawn, Mikkelsen assured fans they’ll be getting the same villainous character they’ve come to love over the years:

“It’s hard to get into that without getting into the narrative, you know, because obviously there was some time between the rebels and where do we get into the story here. So, and that time what happened at that moment left its mark on him, but Generally speaking, it’s still the same guy, man You see, you see that’s how you’re in, you know, what are you hoping for?

The actor went on to share what makes Thrawn such an interesting villain, and that his mind is what makes him such a formidable enemy to Ahsoka and the other characters:

“That dude, he doesn’t have the strength. He’s not a Jedi, he’s not a superhero of any kind, but he’s got brains. He’s got all that about it. How does that compare to characters like Ahsoka, Sabine, and all these other people that we’re going to see and maybe we’re going to collide in the live-action series?I think, I mean, what I mean, his superpower is his mind, which is really and always like seven steps ahead of everyone. , I think. So that’s what you expect.

Ahsoka screenwriter, director and producer Dave Filoni he also talked about Thrawn explaining what sets him apart from the iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader, comparing him to Sherlock Holmes character Moriarty:

“The genius of Thrawn is that he’s not Darth Vader. He doesn’t even try to be. He doesn’t have the Force. But he’s smart and calculating. He’s like a Moriarty, he’ll outrun you and make a chess move on you, so those are the things that I really liked them.”

There is a lot of excitement for this character as he will be the big bad of this era of the New Republic Star Wars projects going forward. All of this will lead to the film that Filoni and Favreau are developing.
