Mountaineer Jeff Mercier has shared a video with amazing footage of him exploring an incredible ice cave in the mountains of Chamonix, France. I love exploring caves and mines, I’ve never done anything like this, but it’s pretty spectacular.
Jeff Mercier explores the joys of ice climbing in Chamonix after some time away from the mountains. He is greeted by the discovery of a beautiful ice cave, full of imagination and possibility.
Speaking about what inspired him to go on the ice hike, he said:
“I came across an image taken recently showing the inside of a huge ice cave. There is no further information on its location, but given the surroundings I can immediately guess the glacier in which it must be hidden. …My passion for mountaineering has been, is and always will be at the center of my being. Now, however, it was a matter of setting my priorities. This process shifted my focus to the ice climbing element of mountaineering.”
