Arnold Schwarzenegger recently offered an update on his much-anticipated sequel to Conan, which is a project he’s still excited to someday do. I have no idea if that will ever happen, but I hope it does! While we wait to see if anything happens, I have a fan-made concept trailer for you to watch. Features a deepfake version of Schwarzenegger.
The video comes from Buff Dudes, who said: “This was a labor of love, created by a small crew who wanted to both show what we imagined happened after the events of Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer, but also a way of saying thank you for all the inspiration, motivation and entertainment Arnold Schwarzenegger has given us over the years.Thank you, Arnold!
The video has both cool stuff and some silly humor. It’s fun in the end, but it’s not really what I’d want to see from a Conan sequel. However, the creative team certainly enjoyed making the video.
The synopsis for this version of Conan reads: “Having long been bored with the crown, Conan finds a conflicted appreciation in his many sons and their violent attempts to usurp him. Outnumbered, he knows he must make uneasy alliances with a handful of willing descendants; grappling with the guilt and resentment of an absent father and ambiguous children who claim to fight alongside him. Betrayal and revelations engulf the earth as Conan heals old wounds and opens new ones, finally discovering what it truly means… to be king.
The fan trailer also came with the following disclaimer: “Our King Conan concept trailer is a fan made film and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the official license holders. It’s a non-profit homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s original Conan films, showcasing what — at least in our imaginations — happened to Conan thirty years after the events of Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. We imagine King Conan as a miniseries, with ten episodes that would conclude the Conan legacy. Let’s make it happen!
