There is a scene inside Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny where fans will have the pleasure of seeing Harrison Ford go shirtless and wearing only his underwear. Well, it turns out that that was all Harrison Ford’That’s the idea, I guess he wanted to show off his old Indy body one last time. While speaking with Esquire, Ford explained that one of the big strengths of returning to the Indiana Jones role was exploring an older Indiana Jones.
“Yes. That’s why I wanted to make the film. I wanted to know what happened to him and how he handled it. [Director James] Mangold and I worked closely together, especially on that scene. Waking up in my underwear with an empty glass in my hand was my idea. I wanted to see Indiana Jones at his lowest ebb and build him from the ground up.
Director James Mangold He has previously talked about what makes this iteration of the character so different and one thing he wanted to show in this film was how the world has changed around the legendary archaeologist. He said:
“The first three Indiana Jones movies took place around the same time. All easily adapt to the serialized, theatrical, almost demented style of the films released in the period in which they are set. [director Steven Spielberg] ON [Crystal Skull], and for me on that, it’s: How do you move forward into the new decades where the world is no longer seen in such clear demarcation of black and white, good and evil? Where the whole concept of raiding tombs and fighting for relics is seen in a different way? It’s not about changing the story, it’s about allowing the character to experience how the world around him has changed.”
The film is set in 1969 during the space race, with Indiana Jones drawn into another great adventure, involving Voller, a NASA member and former Nazi involved in the moon landing program, who wants to “rectify the world and turn it into a best place as he sees fit”. He is trying to correct the mistakes Hitler made when he was in power with the Dial of Destiney artifact.
The film is from producer Steven Spielberg and also stars Mads Mikkelsen (A rogue one), Boyd Holbrook (Logano), Shaunette Renee Wilson (The resident), AND Thomas Kretschmann (The Avengers: Age of Ultron).
