Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now in theaters and so far the fans love the beauty that this film offers! This is the first part of a two-part story that will continue Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verseand yes… this most recent film ends with quite a twist.
During a recent interview with CB, the film’s co-directors were asked what we can expect from the next chapter in the story, and Justin K Thompson teased:
“I mean look, we’ve all been on that journey too. I’ve been at the end of the line where I’m like, I don’t know what the next step is for me. I’ll say animation saved my life. I was at one point of the my life where I was like, I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I don’t know. And it was animation that came in and swept me over and provided for me. So I think relativity is something again that we can impose on Miles and ask what will he do? What is the one thing that will save Miles?”
Thompson went on to talk about how focusing on their characters will help guide them and be their guiding star:
“I think, I think as long as we focus on our characters, as long as we focus on why he’s doing what he’s doing and why it matters, I think he’s always going to be our lodestar, no matter what. But I can tell you, I can promise you that It’s going to be great. It’s going to be spectacular. It’s going to be great. It’s going to be Spider-Man.”
One thing we know for sure is that the next chapter of the story is going to be insanely interesting and super intense. If you’ve seen the movie before, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, I can’t wait for you to experience the new Miles Morales adventure.
The sequel follows Miles Morales as he is “immersed in the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folk to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.”
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he meets a team of Spider-People charged with protecting his very existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
Writer and producer Phil Lord he previously spoke about the film, saying “It’s tough” and “The graphics are going to be stunning.” Miles Morales, voice actor Shameik Moore he continued teasing, “I will say this story trumps the first. If last time the sky was the limit, now the sky is the floor. We step on it and look at Jupiter!”
The film will consist of 280 characters, and the cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld like Gwen, Brian Tiree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; AND Jason Schwartzmann as the villain Spot. Andy Samberg he also recently joined the cast.
The film will also introduce multiple universes including Gwen’s Earth-65, with its signature watercolor palette; India-inspired Mumbattan; Nueva York, the home of Oscar Isaacof Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O’Hara; the punk New London, inhabited by Daniel Kaluyaby Hobart “Hobie” Brown, aka Spider-Punk; and then there is a secret fifth dimension that is kept well hidden for now.
The film is directed and produced by Justin K Thompson, Joaquim Dos SantosAND Kemp Powers. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller AND Christine Steinberg they are also producing.
